What’s the best thing about your job?
“That I’m working in what’s essentially a brand new industry — so we’re all figuring it out as we go along. When I graduated, it didn’t occur to me that whole new, exciting industries like this would spring up from nowhere. I thought I had to choose something from a static list that started with ‘Accountant’ and ended with ‘Zoo Keeper’. Sometimes it feels things are changing scarily fast and I know technology has thrown other sectors — like traditional media — into chaos. But overall I think we’re lucky to be living through such exciting times. Every day I see real innovation happening.”
What did you do before this job?
“Straight after uni I worked in Australia for a year, doing temporary junior office jobs. Back in the UK, I took a job with a software development company and then a social media agency, which introduced me to the digital space. I already had good computer skills from my admin background — and the fact that not many of my generation are fazed by a computer — but I discovered a passion for understanding the psychology behind why these technological tools work.”
