As students, we put so much effort into achieving a good degree and think that once we graduate that’s the hard part done — it’s plain sailing from then on. When I graduated (in Languages – Spanish and French – from Kings College London) I was blissfully unaware of the enormous effort I’d need to put in to find a job.

I’d always been interested in a career in translation but I didn’t know where to start. My course didn’t even touch upon how to get in to the industry and horrifyingly my university careers service was no longer available to me after graduation, just when I needed it the most.
