MONSTER SNAPS UP 500 COPIES OF OUR BOOK FOR GIVEAWAY PROMOTION
**PRIZE DRAW AT 11.59pm ON 7 JUNE 2013**
Monster.co.uk is giving away 500 copies of our book “How to get a graduate job in a recession“, as part of a pre-graduation giveaway. It even has a special ‘Monster purple’ cover! (But don’t worry, it’s exactly the same as the regular book inside).
The website – which last month became the first major UK job board to promise to remove any adverts for unpaid internships, has shown yet more support for struggling graduates by snapping up a bulk order of the hit book by Graduate Fog’s founder, Tanya de Grunwald. Michael Gentle, Head of Consumer Marketing at Monster UK & Ireland, said:
“Forging a career is harder than ever for graduates; who face greater competition, fewer opportunities and ever-increasing levels of debt. At Monster we have an important role in helping young people get on to the career ladder. Today’s graduates are our future leaders and we hope through our partnership with Tanya and Graduate Fog, we can give them an extra boost as they start their employment journey.”
The closing date for the prize draw is 7 June, when winners will be notified by email. To be in with a chance of winning your free copy, just click here!
Quite a coup for you Tanya! Congrats.
Excellent, you have signed a cross promotional deal with Monster and now love each other – probably ought to look at some of the jobs on there that claim to be graduate jobs, in many cases companies shamelessly taking advantage of the terrible job market to snap up grads into roles that are clearly not graduate roles!!!
@Barry
Not sure what you mean about a cross promotional deal? Monster bought 500 copies of my book for their promotion, which I have been totally transparent about. No other money has changed hands I promise! Happily their values and GF’s seem pretty aligned so I am working with them where possible to encourage them to use their clout, reputation, PR firm 3 Monkeys to help tackle the endemic acceptance of unpaid internships in the recruitment sector. So far it seems to be working – see Totaljobs following suit today – so I’m planning to keep going! Hope that helps to clarify things a little?
Tanya, he means that there are jobs on there which claim to be “graduate” jobs which are not in reality graduate level work.
That attitude actually really annoys me, because it ignores a question which nobody who holds Barry’s opinion can answer without relying on subjective interpretations. That question is “What *is* a graduate job?”
For me, a graduate job is any job which a graduate is willing, capable, and interested in doing. Who is anyone to tell them their work is below them?
Just received my free copy and I am very grateful for having been chosen. I read it all in one sitting and I am glad I did, thank you Tanya for being the wake up call I needed. It was 100 times more useful than my so called university careers service has ever been.
Received my copy too. Thank you. I will read in due course!
